Al Thumama World Cup Stadium

New Classic played a significant role in the GRG works at Al Thumama World Cup Stadium. The company was responsible for completing the GRG wall installations throughout the stadium.

In 2022, New Classic was proud to contribute to one of Qatar’s most iconic and important structures, the Al Thumama World Cup Stadium, a venue celebrated for its architectural and cultural significance. This modern stadium, constructed for the FIFA World Cup 2022, has a unique design inspired by the traditional Gahfiya headdress worn by men across the Middle East. Our role in this monumental project was the execution of the GRG (Glass-Reinforced Gypsum) Wall Cladding Works, in collaboration with our client, Medtel WN.

Scope and Scale of the Project

The project involved the design, fabrication, and installation of 5000 square meters of GRG wall cladding. This extensive work played a critical role in enhancing both the aesthetics and functionality of the stadium. The scope of the project demanded precision engineering and execution, which our experienced team at New Classic was well-prepared to deliver.

The Architectural Challenge

The Al Thumama Stadium's architecture posed specific challenges that required customized GRG solutions. The complex curves and geometric patterns of the stadium’s design, reflective of the intricate motifs of the traditional Gahfiya, demanded that our GRG panels were crafted with exacting precision. We worked closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure that our panels seamlessly integrated into the overall design, providing a flawless finish that met international construction standards.

Engineering and Installation Excellence

Our team’s expertise shone through in the efficient and effective installation of the GRG wall cladding. The GRG panels were designed to be lightweight, durable, and fire-resistant, providing not only visual elegance but also the safety and longevity required for a stadium of this caliber. Our installation process involved rigorous safety protocols, given the scale and complexity of the project, as evidenced by the use of safety harnesses and secure scaffolding systems.

The images from the construction site demonstrate our team’s commitment to high safety and quality standards. Wearing protective gear, including helmets, harnesses, and high-visibility vests, our workers meticulously mounted the GRG panels onto the stadium’s structural framework. Each panel was installed with precision to ensure alignment and to withstand the test of time and environmental conditions.

Collaboration and Coordination

Working on such a high-profile project required seamless coordination with Medtel WN and other stakeholders involved in the stadium’s construction. Our team engaged in regular project meetings, coordinated material deliveries, and adhered strictly to timelines, ensuring that the GRG installation met the stadium's overall construction schedule. This collaborative effort exemplified New Classic’s commitment to excellence and client satisfaction.

Outcome and Legacy

The result of our GRG work is a visually stunning, cohesive cladding system that accentuates the architectural beauty of Al Thumama Stadium. Beyond aesthetics, the GRG panels contribute to the stadium’s environmental efficiency, aligning with Qatar's vision for sustainable and modern infrastructure.

Our work on the Al Thumama Stadium stands as a testament to New Classic's ability to deliver complex and large-scale architectural projects with precision, quality, and reliability. We are proud to have been part of Qatar’s World Cup legacy, contributing to a venue that will be celebrated for years to come.
